Why It Matters
Graduate High School
Most children who start elementary school never finish. Girls in rural areas face the biggest challenges, making up most of the 2 million children not in school.
Families in Poverty
Poverty keeps kids out of the classroom, with many expected to work. In rural areas, children typically get only four years of education compared to six elsewhere.
Can’t Read at Grade Level
Even when children attend, many aren’t learning. Nearly half of all teenagers drop out of school — in regions like Lake Atitlan, that number jumps to 61%.
Suffer Severe Malnutrition
With 3 million people lacking enough food, hunger makes it nearly impossible to learn, affecting concentration, attendance, and the ability to keep up.
Our Transformational Approach
In Guatemala, our local staff walks alongside children of all ages in 8 programs that focus on education, physical wellbeing, social-emotional growth, and spiritual support. Our team meets vulnerable children where they are—in their communities, honoring their stories, building hope for their futures.
